Paopi…what??

According to Wikipedia, Paopi is the second month of the Alexandrian calendar, its name is from Hapy, an ancient Egyptian deity….hmm. Ignore that, it has nothing to do with this blog, really.

It is actually a weird nickname an equally weird bud calls me. I’m actually Katrina Paola Mateo, and usually answers to “Pao” but “Paopi” stuck so much in my head that I decided to use it to name my blog. So there, Paopi (Pow-peee)

What IS this blog all about?

This blog’s about my creative journey as a back sliding artist, and as a budding artist trudging the Real Art World. Here is where I’m also going to share links, resources and tips that have helped me in my journey.

So, who are you again?

I’m Katrina Paola Mateo (aka Pao Mateo), a filipina artist-in-training.

What mediums do you use for your artworks?

I am quite comfortable with using quite a lot I taught myself how to draw and paint using traditional materials like acrylics, watercolors, oils, pencils, markers, charcoals, chalks, oil pastels, etc. I occasionally use paper (for papier mache and bas relief), plaster and clay for sculptures. As for my digital paintings, I use Photoshop CS3, optical mouse and a pen tablet. I also use ArtRage, OpenCanvas and Painter. I’m going to teach myself Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Indesign, Maya and Premier Pro next. I want to be an all-around artist.

Where can I see your works?

You can see my temporary art gallery here, which includes some of my (cringe-worthy) old works that I have salvaged from our attic. Old works I’m proud of are my contest pieces, however, they are now properties of the art contest people. My sculptures aren’t in the gallery too, sadly.

Are there anything more you can do besides drawing [crap]?

Yes. I also sing. I’m a vocalist for an experimental rock band, Amelia. We usually join lots of Battle of the Bands in Bulacan where we were blessed to have awards. (I won Best Vocalist too..heehee *blush*)

I can also dance, and act ;P And I box, but just once in a while. I want to learn how to sew and bake next! But I’m really focused in mastering my art skills so some of my interests will have to take the back seat for now.

Can I copy or take some of your drawings?

No, sorry you can’t, not unless I gave you a written permission to do so. I’m usually a nice girl but stealing my works will make me extremely angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry. *cracks knuckles*
